Who is Barbara?
Barbara is our Loan Servicing Specialist at Elements. She’s spent the past year working hard to make improvements to our total loss process. When a member gets in an accident, has their vehicle stolen, or suffers from a fire or flood that destroys their vehicle, Barbara makes sure that member gets as much as they can to cover the loss. Barbara goes above and beyond for our members and has saved them hundreds to thousands of dollars. Her top five strengths are intellection, harmony, input, consistency, and learner!
What does Barbara do?
Like the rest of the loan servicing team, Barbara is responsible for handling any issues a member may face during auto total loss cases. When Elements is notified that one of our members has a vehicle that’s been declared a total loss, Barbara then contacts the member, the insurance company, the warranty provider, etc., until she can get the loan paid off and the member has received any refunds they’re entitled to. “Elements takes as much off the members’ shoulders as we can, so they don’t have to single-handedly navigate an unfamiliar situation on top of all the other stress they’re going through,” Barbara explains.
When did Barbara join Elements?
Barbara joined Elements in November 2022. Before joining our credit union, she worked as a banker at Everwise Credit Union. One of her former coworkers from Everwise Credit Union also joined Elements and encouraged her to apply for a position here. Impressed by her coworker's positive experience at Elements and the fact that Elements was ranked as one of Indiana's Best Places to Work, she decided to take the leap!
Why does Barbara enjoy working at Elements?
Her coworkers play a significant role in creating a happy work environment for Barbara. “I love the people I work with; they’re friendly, helpful, and great at their jobs. I couldn’t imagine being happy at a workplace without that”, she exclaims. Barbara truly feels seen and heard not only by her coworkers, but by the entire credit union. She is grateful for the support and attention she receives from the management and executives at the credit union. In addition to her coworkers, Barbara also enjoys the problem-solving aspect of her role. She takes pleasure in helping members achieve the best possible outcome from their issues. Her learner, intellection, and input strengths shine through her work at Elements. She excels in asking questions to improve processes and find solutions for uncommon cases.
Where can we find Barbara?
Barbara describes herself as a "real homebody," so you won't find her outside her workplace very often. She enjoys nothing more than being at home with a good book or a new TV show. When she's not spending her nights reading through chapters of a mystery novel, Barbara loves doing word puzzles and Sudoku.
What is a "fun fact" about Barbara?
Barbara is the youngest of three girls, just like her mother. She is also a cat person and is a proud owner of a tuxedo cat named Tormenta, which is Spanish for “storm.”
